Teeth

Abby had to go to Anchorage to get quite a few cavities filled. They had to put her under general anesthesia, so she had to get a physical exam. She is pretty brave when getting poked and prodded!
We in were in Anc two days. The first day she only had a preliminary appointment, so we did a few activities. First we went to the museum where she had a great time playing in the kid's section. Then we took a deserved nap! (We had to get up early catch that airplane.) After that she really wanted to ride a bus, so we took the bus to get Indian food and to go to my favorite store - Central Market - they have all kinds of Asian and Indian products.

As we were getting on the bus, there was a bit of an argument. Apparently a man was trying to let a blind man go first, but another man went ahead of the blind man. The man who was trying to be helpful got mad and a bit belligerent. He started saying how everyone in Anchorage is rude and how Natives are discriminated against, white man this, white man that.... The bus driver asked the man to get off the bus, but he blatantly refused. Security and finally the police got called. He eventually got off the bus and we went on our way. And then two minutes later, someone got on the bus and said "fuck white people". Abby needs to learn to protect herself. People can be really mean and harmful.

I tried to tell her she was at a bad end.

We took a late walk to end our day. Smelling flowers (or picking dandelions) is her favorite activity at the moment. We had the full urban experience - taxis, parks, buses, tall buildings, museum, restaurants, grocery stores that have produce I would have love to been able to take home....

Pretending to be a moose.

The surgery went well. She is still groggy, and that first day was rough. Hopefully all the crowns will stay put. She now had some major bling in her mouth!
