Kodiak State Fair and Rodeo

We worked hard getting ready to enter all of our goods into the fair. Last year we were awarded a Grand Champion for our raspberry/rhubarb/blueberry pie. This year she entered the cupcake wars with "Birthday cupcakes." She entered a lot this year: Her pottery couch (she made me a new couch), a Christmas ornament, a paper hat with cats and flowers, a Kindergarten book "Nuts to You", an acrylic painting of a cat, a marker still like of fruit in a bowl, a kitty purse (purse with a kitty) made of paper and duct tape, and a whale print.

Her Christmas ornament on the left (round beaded blue) and her paper hat.

Her couch in center. She could only enter one hand built pottery. She also made a cinnamon roll and an Angry Bird.

Abby really want to write and illustrate a book one day. She technically has started. Her first was Period Penguin. We probably need to flush that out, but she did two versions in Kindergarten.

I entered some goods as well. Including blue (or as Abby says purple) potatoes.

Spruce top jelly, raspberry jam, and rhubarb-peach jam.

Rhubarb peach took first place this year in the mixed fruit category. My raspberry was first last year, but came in second this year. I do not use pectin in my jams and jellies (except in the spruce tip).

GRAND CHAMPION

First place for a couple pottery pieces

There is lots to do at the fair.

Not as many games this year

And cowboys.

Abby won the cowboy hat in the pie eating contest. She did well with missing her two front teeth!
